I nearly forgot to post your Thespian Thursday information! I’ve been so busy working on this fundraiser for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, that I barely had time to sit in front of the computer today. But, now that I have your attention, may I direct you to the Old Courthouse Theatre.
SOUTH PACIFIC is one of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s most beloved musicals. Featuring the songs “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair,” “I’m in Love With A Wonderful Guy,” and “Some Enchanted Evening,” it is set in an island paradise during World War II where two parallel love stories are threatened by the dangers of prejudice and war. Nellie Forbush is a spunky nurse from Arkansas who falls in love with a mature French planter, Emile DeBecque who happens to be carrying secrets from his past. Lt. Joe Cable, a handsome young Marine and Princeton graduate, struggles with his love for a young native girl and learns to overcome his families prejudice. Everyone is tested when Emile and Joe embark on a dangerous mission that teaches us just how precious life is. SOUTH PACIFIC embodies all that Rodgers and Hammerstein stood for: Optimism, Hope, Equality, and most of all, Patriotism. Winner of 10 Tony Awards, including Best Musical!
