Sometimes in life, things happen that we cannot explain. Everything can change in the blink of an eye, turning our world upside down. And though we struggle for answers, they never come. But it is in those moments that we must cling to any shred of hope and never give up the belief that something good can come from something bad. And no matter how the pain consumes us, we must remember that we are never alone.
In February, a young man named Keeghan took his own life, leaving his family, friends, and community with an immeasurable grief. They may never truly know the reasons why, but this tragedy has sparked a light of hope that has already affected the lives of others in a positive way.
Keeghan’s Kause is an organization formed with the intent of preventing teen and young adult suicide. Tonight, some of the best and brightest theatrical talent from around our area will come together for a benefit concert in honor of Keeghan’s Kause. They will perform a “pre-show” leading up to a spectacular headline performance by Broadway star and Tony Award winner, Alice Ripley. Tickets are sold out.
I am proud and honored to say that I know many of the actors and actresses who will be singing this evening. I have worked with a number of them, and number of them are personal friends. In such a short amount of time, the community rallied in support of Keeghan’s Kause (Keeghan’s mother, Melissa, is an incredibly talented actress and supporter of local arts).
