As if I needed another reason to be excited about working with Charlotte Comicon again for their upcoming December 15th show, this news just tugs at my heart strings.
It’s no secret that the 501st Carolina Garrison of Stormtroopers does all that they can throughout the year to support many causes and organizations. In the past, they have helped me raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at various events, including collecting money at the Spring 2013 Charlotte Comicon. The Klingons did an amazing job of raising money for CF at that show, as well. I’m forever grateful. Well, this weekend at the Charlotte Comicon, they’ll be at it again!
Donations of new, unopened dog food, treats, toys, bones, and so forth will be collected at the 501st table to support Warrior Service Dogs and the Humane Society. Of course, monetary donations are always welcome! All donations will be split 50/50 between the two organizations.
Warrior Service Dogs is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization started by three OEF/OIF combat veterans based in Western North Carolina.
“WSD’s GOAL is to work along side and support our nation’s veterans in any and every way possible through the assistance of well-trained service dogs. No matter the disability or the specific needs of our disabled vets, we will exceed expectations to provide the assistance they need by teaming them with their very own Warrior Service Dog. We will gladly train a veteran’s pet dog to become their service dog or we will select a dog from a local shelter and train it for the veteran’s specific needs.”
So, while you are at the show doing some last minute Christmas shopping and enjoying all of the dealers, vendors, artists and authors at Charlotte Comicon, don’t miss out on the opportunity to give back and be a hero to the veterans and shelter dogs that need our help. I am very proud to support all of these organizations and to be a part of the Charlotte Comicon family. See you at the show!
